Seven-Day Workshop on Alternative Therapy commenced at Central University of Punjab

Bathinda, June 7: The Department of Physical Education at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, is organizing seven-day workshop on the focal theme of Alternative Therapy from June 6—12, 2022, during which professional experts will provide training to participants on yoga asana for a healthy life. The University is conducting this programme in observance of the 8th International Day of Yoga.

During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Laxminarayan Joshi, Head Dept. of Yogic Sciences, Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar, conducted a session on Nadi Vigyan and Yoga Chikitsa. During this session, Dr. Joshi shared details about how yoga therapy could help in providing relief from various health issues such as Cervical Spondylosis, Sciatic Nerve Pain, Back Pain and Arthritis Pain or any other pain associated with muscular tissues or ligaments.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sanjeev Mandre, HoD, Dept. of Physical Education. He stated that during this workshop, yoga experts will provide training to participants on Nadi Vigyan, Yoga Chikitsa, Yoga Asana, Pranayama, Surya Namaskar, and Ayurveda Panchkarma.

While elaborating on the programme theme, Dr. Pushpinder Singh mentioned that contemporary therapy not only helps in reducing stress & anxiety levels, calming our emotions and improving our general health level, but it has proved effective in controlling symptoms and reducing side effects of major health diseases. Therefore, this workshop would be beneficial to people suffering from various health problems. This workshop would also include a yoga asana competition to recognize the best performers.

Prof. B.P. Garg, Controller of Examinations and Registrar (O), participated in the inaugural ceremony as special guest. More then 100 participants including faculty, staff members, students and residents of village ghudda attended the opening session.
