Punjab & Chandigarh Journalists Union has forcefully condemned the high handed and politically motivated arrest of Malwinder Singh Mali, a renowned human rights activist having a long track record of maintaining and struggling for harmony in the society. Baseless alligation by a nominated member of the ruling political party is to be termed as uncalled for high handedness of the Mohali CIA police and is nothing but an effort to throttle the voice of dissent, which otherwise is an essential component of a vibrant Democracy as observed by the Honble Supreme Court of India. Union President Balbir Singh Jandu and the Chairman Balwinder Jammu condemned the action of the police and called upon the poliice and political authority to withdraw the case against Mali immediately.
