India has set up its first Liquid Mirror Telescope (LMT) in Uttarakhand to observe supernovae, space debris, asteroids and other celestial objects, the government said. The telescope is Asia’s largest and has been built by astronomers from India, Belgium and Canada. It is located at an altitude of 2,450 metres at the Devasthal Observatory in Nainital.
