Guru Nanak Dev University is committed for overall development of students: Vice Chancellor
Amritsar, April 06, 2022 (PNO)– The Inter-Departmental four-days Cultural Festival Jashan-2022 of the Guru Nanak Dev University Campus started here today in the Dasmesh Auditorium with great enthusiasm. Student-artists of 40 departments of the University are participating in this four-day event which would be concluded on Apirl 09.
Today, Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor was the chief guest and he inaugurated the festival by ligting the ceremonial lamps. Prof. Anish Dua, Dean, Students’ Welfare extended welcome to Prof. Sandhu and other guests. Sh. B.S. Sekhon, Sh. K.S. Chahal, members of the University Cultral Committee, students, faculty members & officials were present on this occasion.
Prof. Sandhu in his address said that cultural & artistic activities have several practical impacts. By participating in such activities, students become more passionate and more confident. These activities foster team spirit and a sense of responsibility in students. He said that any competition should be played with discipline and with the spirit of sportsmanship. Hardwork, discipline and dedication are the only way to be part of any competition.While blessing the student artists Prof. Sandhu said that student should participate in these activities alongwith their formal studies.
Prof. Anish Dua in his welcome address said that the University is committed to nurture internal qualities of students through research, academics, sports, arts and other innovative activities and the main objective of such celebrations as ‘Jashan’ is to hone the hidden talent within the students. He said that the student-artists from various department of the University are participating in the domains of Dance, Music, Fine Arts, Literary activities and Theater.
On this first day, competitions of Bhangra, Geet Gazal, Folk Song were organized in the Dasmesh Auditorium and Shabad/Bhajan, Western Vocal, Instrumental (Percusion), Instrumental (Non Percusion) were held in the Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditorium.
On April 07 in the Dasmesh Auditorium, the competitions of Mimicry, Notanki and Skit will be organized and in the Conference Hall of the University, the items of Quiz and Debate will be held. On this day in the Lecture Theatre Complex, the competitions of Collage, Cartooning, Rangoli, Poster Making, Painting on the Spot, On the Spot Theme Photography, Flower Arrangement, Mehandi Competition and Clay Modelling will be held.
The itmes of Western Group Dance, Creative Group Dance & Choreography will be held in the Dasmesh Auditorium and Poetical Symposium and Extempore will be held in the Conference Hall on April 08. On this day in the Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditorium, Short Film Making Competition will be organized. On the last day i.e. April 09, Dance to Tune, Gidha and Prize Distribution function will be held in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University.
