Prateik Babbar has announced the decision to change his name in a way that honours his late mother, legendary actress Smita Patil. Prateik will be henceforth known as Prateik Patil Babbar and added that it will be his new screen name. Smita Patil died in 1986 due to complications in childbirth, weeks after Prateik was born.
