Qatar arrested & abused LGBT people ahead of FIFA World Cup: HRW

Human Rights Watch (HRW) said security forces in Qatar arbitrarily arrested and abused LGBT Qataris as recently as last month. A Qatari official responded that HRW’s allegations “contain information that is categorically and unequivocally false”. HRW said “nondiscrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity” should be for all and not just spectators going for the FIFA World Cup.
