Hadi Matar, a 24-year-old man from New Jersey, has been indicted for stabbing author Salman Rushdie last week, US county prosecutors said on Thursday. Matar is scheduled to appear at an afternoon court hearing in Chautauqua County. Matar was arrested on August 12 after he stabbed Rushdie multiple times in front of a crowd at Chautauqua Institution.
