In 2022, hackers stole $3.8 billion in cryptocurrency led by groups linked to North Korea, according to a report by US-based blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis. The report added that October 2022 had the most amount of cryptocurrency hackings, with $775.7 million stolen in 32 separate attacks. There was also a “huge spike” in hacking activities in the month of March.
