The Punjab and Chandigarh Journalist Union condemns registration of FIR against the journalist Amandeep Thakur. It is to mention here, Amandeep Thakur has been highlighting news stories of alleged fraudulent study centre that claims to send students abroad.
It is said that the Journalists is falsely implicated in the case on the behest of alleged travel agents and illegal mining groups. It is not for the first time but such case have been noticed earlier also when mediapersons are targeted for publishing news stories.
The chairman of the Union Balwinder Singh Jammu , President Balbir Jandu , Vice President Jai Singh Chhibber, Secretary Santokh Gill demanded from the Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav to order unbiased and fair investigation in this case.
The Union leaders further said it is not tolerable that media persons are exploited to such an extent by implicating in false cases and stopping them to do their duties as newspersons.
