China-based Hainan Airlines is facing backlash for its policy to suspend ‘overweight’ flight attendants. As per the policy, “height (cm) -110 = standard weight (kg).” The airline would monitor attendants who are less than 5% ‘overweight’ to ensure they don’t gain weight. Meanwhile, those who are 10% ‘overweight’ will be immediately suspended and put on a company-supervised weight reduction plan.
