The death toll after a houseboat capsized near the Thoovaltheeram beach in the Tanur area of Kerala’s Malappuram district on Sunday rose to 22. Sports Minister V Abdurahiman said most victims are children and women. PM Narendra Modi announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh for families of the deceased. Monday was declared a day of official mourning in Kerala.
