Sales Tax Department of Maharashtra told Bombay HC that Anushka Sharma is “the first owner of copyrights” in every artistic performance where she received consideration and therefore she’s liable to pay sales tax for it. Anushka had filed a plea that the assessing officer had wrongly levied sales tax on the fee she received for endorsements and anchoring award functions.
