For the first time in 34 years, Uttar Pradesh Assembly turned into a court as it sentenced six policemen to one day’s imprisonment on Friday. They had lathi-charged BJP MLA Salil Vishnoi and his supporters during a protest almost 20 years ago. Several party leaders, including Congress and BSP, authorised Speaker Satish Mahana to make a decision on the matter.
