Countrywide strikes massively disrupted transport, schools and public services across France on Thursday. Protesters demanded the government’s plan to raise nominal retirement age from 62 years to 64 years to avail pension be scrapped. However, President Emmanuel Macron said, “We will do it with respect, in a spirit of dialogue but also determination and responsibility.”
