Berlin fire department reports 38 New Year attacks on firefighters

Firefighting teams were attacked 38 times while responding to nearly 1,700 emergency calls through New Year’s Eve and the morning of January 1 in the German capital of Berlin, the city’s fire department said. Miscreants shot fireworks and threw beer bottles at firefighters, the fire department added. The attacks left 15 emergency responders injured with one of them needing treatment.
