Kabosu, the dog who inspired the “Doge” meme, is seriously ill with leukaemia and liver disease. The 17-year-old Shiba Inu “stopped eating and drinking voluntarily” on Christmas Eve, according to a series of Instagram posts by its Japan-based owner Atsuko Sato. In 2013, Kabosu became an internet sensation based on a 2010 photo that Sato posted to her blog.
