Heatwaves to become more frequent, will continue till 2060s: UN

Amid heatwaves in Europe, UN said that heatwaves will become more frequent and are likely to continue until 2060s irrespective of climate mitigation efforts. “Emissions are still growing…especially in…big Asian countries which are…largest emitters,” UN’s World Meteorological Organization chief said. Notably, UK reported its hottest day on July 19 as temperatures crossed 40°C for first time.
