Sri Lankan President has agreed to resign on July 13, says Parliament Speaker

Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has agreed to step down on July 13, according to the Speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana. Rajapaksa has faced a wave of anti-government protests amid a worsening economic crisis. Earlier on Saturday, reports had said that Rajapaksa ran away after protestors surrounded his residence.
