Sangrur/ Bhadaur, June 15 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann not to mislead Punjabis with grandiose statements that the government would be run from villages when rural areas were being most ignored in the AAP dispensation and there was practically no rule of law or security of the common man.
Terming the statement as another ‘shagufa’ while on a campaign tour of Bhadaur constituency in favour of joint panthic and SAD-BSP candidate Biba Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana, the SAD president said “what to talk about running the government from villages, it is not even being run from Chandigarh. The reins of the government have been handed over to AAP Convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal who is taking all decisions regarding running the affairs of Punjab. Nothing is being done on the ground but grandiose advertisements are being released every day. You have seen how the law and order situation has deteriorated and even religious clashes have occurred in the State for the first time ever. Development has come to a standstill. The rural areas are the worst sufferers as all development works have been stopped. The State has also been put in a precarious situation financially with the AAP government taking on a debt of Rs 9,000 crore in three months only”.
Asserting that Punjabis were aware of the reality, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “they realize that Mr Bhagwant Mann is a dummy chief minister who can do nothing. This is why they are not protesting against AAP and even prevented the party from opening its office in Dhuri”. He said the chief minister also realized that the people had turned against him and this was why he was not conducting a thanksgiving tour of his constituency.
Urging the people to extend wholehearted support to joint panthic and SAD-BSP candidate Biba Rajoana, Mr Badal said earlier Punjabis gave a chance to AAP when it asked for one chance to rule the State. Now we appeal to you to give one chance to Biba Rajoana to free Sikh detenues who are languishing in jail even after completion of their life sentences”. He said the Sangrur by-poll would not make any difference in State politics but would help in reuniting Sikh detenues with their families. “The Bandi Singhs deserve all the empathy you can extend to them”.
The SAD President said Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana was languishing in jail since 28 years and was not being freed even after the Supreme Court had asked the centre had repeatedly asked the centre to take a decision on the clemency petition filed on his behalf by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in 2012. He has not even been given parole during this period and continues to be incarcerated in an eight feet by eight feet cell”. He also took on AAP Convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on the occasion. He said Kejriwal was refusing to sign the file which would result in the release of Prof Dewinderpal Singh Bhullar for the last seven months even though the latter’s case had been cleared for release.
Mr Badal toured Aspal Kalan, Shehna, Bhadaur and Tapa villages in Bhaduar and was accompanied by Satnam Singh Rahi and Baba Tek Singh Dhanaula.
