Sri Lanka issues shoot-on-sight orders amid riots

Amid an economic crisis in the country, the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry ordered its Armed Forces to open fire at anyone looting public property or causing harm to others. This comes after a day of clashes left several people dead and injured more than 200. Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had resigned amid the economic crisis.
