Twelve Japanese players, instead of 11, were seen on the field towards the end of their Hockey World Cup 2023 match against South Korea on Tuesday. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has opened an investigation into the matter. “The Japanese team explained that they hadn’t realised this at all and expressed their most sincere apologies,” the FIH said.
